ROC–Malaysia Technical Exchange: Boosting Smart Manufacturing and Low-Carbon Cooperation
The Central Regional Service Office of the China Productivity Center (CPC) visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 16 to 20, 2025, leading a Smart Manufacturing Technical Mission of four delegates. The visit focused on strengthening collaboration with local government agencies and industry organizations in the areas of smart manufacturing and low-carbon development. Malaysia launched the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) in 2023, aiming to transform 3,000 factories into smart factories and accelerate the country’s path toward net-zero emissions. This mission was organized to support these goals by promoting cooperation in smart manufacturing technologies, energy management, and workforce training.

During the visit, CPC experts held in-depth discussions with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), the Mechanical and Engineering Industries Federation (MEIF), and the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC). These meetings resulted in several collaboration plans, including the development of a smart manufacturing demonstration site jointly built by National Formosa University and SHRDC, the training of MEIF and FMMI instructors in low-carbon and smart technologies, and the introduction of IoT-based equipment monitoring and OEE diagnostic services for local companies such as SIPRO Plastic.

The mission also led to multiple future cooperation opportunities in smart manufacturing training, technical consulting, and on-site factory diagnostics. These efforts will help Malaysian SMEs strengthen their awareness and adoption of smart and low-carbon technologies. The visit successfully reinforced the foundation for long-term Taiwan–Malaysia cooperation and set the stage for expanding demonstration projects and technical exchanges in the years ahead.
